Hibernians announced that Keith Gouder will be handing over the reins to Kenneth Costantino as Head Coach of the women’s senior team. Costantino adds the role of Head Coach to his already existing duties of being the Women’s Technical Coordinator.
The announcement released earlier today follows that announcing Keith Gouder’s departure, which was released yesterday. The club confirmed that Gouder will be stepping down due to personal reasons but that he will still be involved with the team as part of the technical staff on Sunday. He leaves the position after leading the club since the re-formation of their women’s team during the last campaign. Last year, Gouder led the side to a fourth-place finish in the Assikura Women’s League and a runner’s up medal in the Assikura Women’s Knockout.
Gouder departs this campaign having led the team to a third-place finish ahead of the final league phase, thus achieving the first objective of finishing in the top four. Kenneth Costantino will now be leading the team in the final rounds with the aim of reducing the gap to leaders Birkirkara.
Hibernians will be hoping that electing Kenneth Costantino from within the club’s internal women’s sector ensures a smooth transition as they go into this next crucial phase. This being said, the coach will likely still have his own principles which he may want to impress. It will be interesting to see what changes, if any, he seeks to implement in the team.
The coach will go straight into the fire with the squad this upcoming weekend. Their first task together will be overcoming Swieqi United on Saturday 20th at Mgarr Ground (14:00). Second placed Swieqi United sit one point ahead of Hibernians.
