Maltese international Maria Farrugia has signed with Lewes Women FC following the expiry of her current contract with Durham Women FC.

Lewes Women FC announced the move of the Maltese forward from fellow Women’s Championship side Durham Women FC on Thursday evening. Farrugia has been in England for a number of years, first signing with Sunderland at sixteen years old, before switching to Durham last year.

During her time with Durham the Maltese international made twenty appearances, featuring also against WSL side Manchester United Women in the FA Cup, who were the eventual runners-up.

The forward brings plenty of excitement to the side, with her flair and pace on the wings. She also has a knack for scoring a few goals. She was most recently on the scoresheet for Malta against Estonia, where her strike secured a late win for the team. The player is currently on international duty as part of Manuela Tesse’s squad who will face Haiti on saturday.
