Agarista Anenii Noi and Buducnost Podgorica will battle for third place at 11:00 at the Myjava Stadium. Agarista’s Alexei Gladun and captain Cristina Musteata gave their view on the expected balance of the match and the meaning of victory. Buducnost’s Team Manager Leonora Prenkočević believes her side is ready to make the most of their baptism of fire in the competition.

Looking For A Positive End To Tournament

Agarista Anenii Noi and Buducnost Podgorica will be initiating the final matchday of the first round in group CP-2 at 11:00 at the Myjava Stadium. Having suffered defeat on Wednesday the two will battle for a third-place finish in the group.

The teams fell to substantial defeats at the hands of Swieqi United and Spartak Myjava, and are also chasing the first goal in the tournament. The two were probed on whether this statistic will make this morning’s match more open as both attempt to change that narrative, or even more cautious in approach.

Agarista’s Alexei Gladun replied, “We’re certain that our opponent will try to apply pressure on our half of the pitch to close down space, so we’re preparing to play with a defensive approach. We hope this will help us create pressure near their goal.”

The captain of the team, Cristina Musteata, replied with a similar cautious narrative, “After a defeat, I think both teams want to win. However, since we don’t know this opponent, the first fifteen to twenty minutes will show us what kind of football we’ll need to play.”

On the other hand, Buducnost’s Team Manager, Leonora Prenkočević believes that the best of the two teams is yet to come and that the scorelines did not necessarily reflect their quality. She replied, “Yes, both teams suffered a defeat, but I believe the scorelines were too high and don’t reflect the true picture on the pitch.”

As to the style of football displayed, Buducnost appears ready to push from the front foot, with one eye on their opponent. Prenkočević replied, “We will definitely be more open and attacking — that’s the style of play we nurture — but of course, it also depends on how much the opponent allows us to do that.”

What Would Victory Mean?

The two teams bring different levels of experience as clubs in the competition. However, both are looking to claim their first win in it. Both camps gave their view of what securing victory this morning would mean for the teams.

Agarista’s leading player, Cristina Musteata, summed it up, “We would prove to ourselves that we’re capable and not afraid to play at this level against such opponents.”

Agarista’s Alexei Gladun backed the claim that his team will give it their all, “ Securing our first victory in such a tough and prestigious competition is a dream for us. And we want to give everything on the pitch to make that dream come true.”

Meanwhile, Buducnost’s Leonora Prenkočević replied with a wider view on the club’s trajectory, ” We won the title in our league for the first time last season, and this is our baptism of fire in Europe. Every goal means a lot to us. A victory means a lot to us too especially because we’re generally a young team and it would be a step forward for the girls. Matches like this are important for us as we fight for the title next season.”

The two teams will kick-off at 11:00 at the Myjava Stadium in Myjava. The final will be played this evening at 19:00, as hosts Spartak Myjava take on Swieqi United in a battle for a place in the next round of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Edit: The match may be watched on Youtube for those unable to make it to the stadium.
