Valletta have made their first splash in the market with the unveiling of striker Marcelle de Oliveira Julio. Mgarr United confirmed the signing of Fernanda Peinado from Swieqi United and the recruitment of Luana Vitoria Cabral. Hibernians have strengthened their defence with the addition of Natalee Geren. Birkirkara announced Edith Garcia Falero, while Swieqi United confirmed that Nina-Lee Naudi will continue her development with Sampdoria in Italy, and Giulia Borg will lead the U16 women’s team.
Greens Secure Peinado and Cabral
As had been speculated for some time, the Greens have secured the signature of forward Fernanda Peinado. The Brazilian makes the switch following a positive spell with Swieqi United and so brings with her experience from the league into the side. A creative outlet with an eye for goal, she continues to strengthen the attack for the Greens, alongside the recent capture of compatriot Joelma Alves Gabriel.
Mgarr United have also announced the signing of another Brazilian in Luana Vitória Cabral, who joins from Uniao Desportiva and will be making her first appearance in Europe. The twenty-three year old will slot into the midfield department, becoming the fifth signing for the Greens in the window.
Stripes Formally Announce Edith Garcia Falero
Birkirkara have confirmed the signing of Edith Garcia Falero. The Uruguayan player will also be making her first foray into European football this year with Birkirkara, following a spell in her native country with Defensor Sporting. She brings championship winning experience with her, following lifting the Uruguayan Championship in 2021, while also finishing as runner-up with the U19 squad that season.
Despite being in a new setting, the twenty-one year old already impressed in her debut, netting a goal and contributing with an assist against Lija Athletic. She was also effectively involved in plenty of the attacks for the Stripes.
Swieqi United’s Youngster Leaves For Sampdoria, Borg Announced as U16 coach
The Owls announced that youngster Nina-Lee Naudi will depart their Academy and continue her development with Sampdoria. Naudi completes the move following a successful trial with the Italian club, where she will be partaking in the U-15 side of the team.
She becomes the second player to join Sampdoria, following senior Malta international player Rachel Cuschieri who is understood to be continuing her spell with the side despite initial intentions of the club to suspend the women’s sector. Reports indicate that the Italian outfit has been making in-roads in securing the necessary investment to continue funding its women’s sector.
The Owls also confirmed that Giulia Borg will be leading the U16 women’s team. She progresses into the role after previously serving as assistant coach for the U17 team and also leading the U13 category. Swieqi United received a bye in the first round of fixtures and will kick off their BNF Women’s League campaign next Sunday 3rd September against Gudja United at Marsaskala Ground with kick-off at 20:15.

There had been much speculation as to when Guerra’s side were going to start unveiling their new foreign recruits. Striker Marcelle de Oliveira Julio becomes the first official signing unveiled. The twenty-three year old was personally handpicked by Denis Guerra and will be making her first foray in Europe. She will boost the forward line for City.
Hibernians’ New Defender
The Paolites have made another major signing in bringing American Natalee Geren to Maltese shores. The defender is capable of playing in the centre of defence but brings versatility to the side as she can also slot on the flanks.
She played her college soccer with Little Rock which saw her contribute four goals and five assists. Standing at 170 cm tall, the defender will also boost the height in the side and she is also fairly quick, which will be key against the pace packed by several sides in the league. Besides her strengths in defensive duties, her vision will also improve the Paolites’ ability to build attacks from the back.
