The Malta Football Association has launched a survey to collect opinions from various stakeholders and the general public to improve the Women’s game in Malta. This is the first task of the dedicated committee led by Ms Dana Farrugia that has been set up specifically to research and establish a new strategy for women’s football.
The Aim of the Survey
The survey has been launched in an effort to obtain feedback from the general public so that the Malta FA may identify trends and understand the effect that changes might have on the football landscape in Malta.
Information gathered from the survey will be discussed with the major local football stakeholders, including the Malta Football Players Association, the Malta Football Coaches Association, the Malta Football Referees Association, the Gozo Football Association, the Malta Premier League, the Challenge League and Amateur League Standing Committees, as well as those representing fans, grassroots sector and youth football and the parents of young players.
The information gathered will be a critical step for the committee to establish key goals to increase grassroots participation as well as to continue elevating the game to more professional levels. Following these discussions, a thorough report identifying goals for women’s football will be presented toward the end of the summer.
Key Aspects of the Survey
The survey calls for opinions on various facets of the women’s game. It targets fan engagement, the match experience, as well as opinions on media dissemination of matches including broadcasting and presence on social media.
Besides the fan engagement at matches, the survey aims to collect opinions on the technical aspects that affect the level of football in Malta. This includes the investment in specialised coaches, improvement of training facilities, and the efforts related to identification and nurture of young talents. The survey also covers aspects such as mixed gender football and the role of clubs in the professionalisation of the women’s game.
The interested public is urged to fill out the survey here.
